AXIS: Choreographic and Performance Intensive

November 19th-21st, 2017
10AM-4PM Daily
Final Showing: November 21st, 2017 2-4PM
Each day will start with a technique class learning material and dance sequences to develop dancers’ technique, memory, coordination, movement qualities and dynamics. These skills will then be used in various improvisations and choreographic explorations to develop dancers own choreographic interests and investigations. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn company repertoire and will gain insight to the tasks and skills used to create work in the company. Utilizing the material developed through these skills and tasks, the dancers will then be led through a devising process to create and structure a piece of their own work in solo, duet, small group and ensemble formats. Once developed and rehearsed, there will be an opportunity to perform the created works for peers and friends at Gibney Dance the final day at 3pm.
Please bring comfortable clothing you can move in and note-taking materials.
